Shell and Deb have both spent their entire careers in the corporate hospitality field, boasting over 40 years collectively working for such notable chains as Hyatt, Marriott, Starwood, and a number of prominent independent resorts.
Shell has enjoyed a successful career holding positions such as Food & Beverage Director and Director of Catering & Conference Services. His 15-year tenure at the prestigious Turnberry Isle Resort & Club in Aventura, Florida as Director of Catering & Conference Service, has equipped him with the skills to operate a fine establishment with attention to detail, quality and a special focus on service.
Shell and Deb met while working together in a resort and married in 1989. Deb has also enjoyed a parallel career in Convention Service and Catering, occasionally allowing them the opportunity to work together, blending their complimentary areas of expertise. This blend of personalities will be of particular benefit to them operating a bed and breakfast, a long-standing dream of Deb's.
When the opportunity presented itself, the obvious transition was to purchase and operate an inn. The couple toured the region in October to enjoy the fall colors and was introduced to Waynesville by close friend and broker, Bland Holland, with North Carolina Inn Brokers, Inc. They immediately felt compelled to the area, and the search for an appropriate site ensued. They found the Clyde Ray house while perusing the Internet, and the rest is history!
